A Windswept Bay. A Bold New Islay Whisky

Inspired by the sweeping shores and ever-changing light of Laggan Bay, our distillery proudly takes its place as Islay’s eleventh whisky distillery.

Famed around the world for its distinctively peaty and smoky whiskies, Islay is home to some of the most highly regarded whiskies in the world.

At Laggan Bay Distillery, we will be crafting a bold peated whisky inspired by the bay itself and honouring the timeless traditions of Islay’s legendary distilleries.

The Next Chapter For The Russell Family

Laggan Bay Distillery marks the fourth whisky distillery owned by the Russell family, the family behind independent spirits company Ian Macleod Distillers, whose whisky‑making journey began in 1936.

For generations, the family has crafted and nurtured some of Scotland’s most iconic distilleries; Glengoyne, Tamdhu and Rosebank, each one a testament to their dedication to time‑honoured craft.

With decades of blending and distilling expertise behind them, the Russells have held a long-standing ambition of bringing an Islay distillery into the family. Laggan Bay is the realisation of that vision and builds on the company’s values of sustainability and innovation.

Rooted in heritage and guided by a commitment to the future, Laggan Bay carries the Russell Family spirit into a new chapter on Islay’s shores.
